But first we have to go and see the Quindio wax palm about 15 miles east of Salento, higher in the mountains.

All of a sudden you begin to see these incredible palms

They grow to over 150 feet, only here on the west side of the Andes. Taken nearly to extinction for the easily extracted wax , they’re now protected
